"Louis XV Style Giltwood Mirror With Parclosed Glass Panels, 19th Century "
An important antique octagonal mirror, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, in the Louis XV Rococo style. The frame is made of carved and gilded wood, richly decorated with scrolls, foliage, volutes, and Rococo motifs, finely worked in high relief. The mirror consists of a central octagonal glass surrounded by eight beveled peripheral mirrors, creating an elegant play of reflections. The upper section is surmounted by a highly decorative openwork pediment with a cartouche and carved foliage motif, while the lower section features a substantial symmetrical Rococo design. The antique glass shows slight pitting and alterations to the silvering, natural signs of age, without detracting from the legibility or the overall aesthetic. The back is made of assembled solid wood planks, with an antique hanging system using metal wire. It measures 130 cm in height and 100 cm in width. Louis XV style – Rococo. Period: circa 1880–1920
