"Pair Of Armchairs Stamped Delaporte, 18th Century "
A pair of Louis XVI style cabriolet armchairs in molded and carved beechwood, with a concave, gendarme-hat shaped back. The side uprights are adorned with pointed foliage motifs forming acroteria. The armrests are finely arched with upholstered cuffs, terminating in scrolls and supported by two fluted and reeded brackets. The legs are tapered with a round cross-section, fluted and reeded, and terminate in a carved floral finial. The abbreviated stamp "N. DLP.S" on each piece stands for Nicolas Martin DELAPORTE, who became a Master craftsman in 1773 and established himself in Paris during the reign of Louis XVI. Parisian work, Louis XVI period, circa 1775-1780. They measure 90 cm in height, 57 cm in length, and 48 cm in depth. The seat height is 42 cm. They are in very good condition.
