"Pronnier: Large 18th Century French Solid Silver Platter Lille 1749-50, Coat Of Arms"
Rare large round solid silver platter from the Louis XV period, with a bordered rim. The rim is engraved with an alliance coat of arms (including the motto "NON ARTE") framed by rampant lions, all surmounted by a helmet. The reverse is engraved with rare period weight markings in marks, ounces, and grains (3 M 4 ON 4 GR). It bears the Lille hallmark, the Lille guild mark for 1749-50, and the hallmark of the master silversmith Sébastien-Joseph PRONNIER (or PRONIEZ), registered in 1737.
