Provençal Commode From The Louis XVI Period
A Provençal commode from the Louis XVI period. Late 18th century. Made in the Nîmes region. Constructed of walnut, it features a curved front and sides. It rests on four cabriole legs. The lower front rail is openwork, finely carved with a bouquet of flowers within two scrolls, a ribbon, and two laurel wreaths. The front uprights are rounded and have three flutes. The drawer fronts are simply molded. They are adorned with bronze keyhole escutcheons and rings decorated with motifs of soup tureens, scrolls, and profiles of men and women. The drawer bottoms are made of fir. The original locks are functional and fitted with an antique key. Dimensions: W 121.5 x D 63 x H 88.5 cm
