Oil on panel signed GRAAT Barend (1628-1709) depicting a flock of sheep. Mid 17th century. Dutch painter, GRAAT Barend lived all his life in Amsterdam and worked as an artist from 1645 to 1709. Trained by his uncle Hans Bodt as a landscape and animal painter, he also distinguished himself in genre and history painting. He notably produced numerous portraits for wealthy families in Amsterdam. He taught the future renowned painter Johann Heinrich Roos.
