Commode In Marquetry After A Model By Riesener
Chest of drawers in marquetry after a model by Jean-Henri RIESENER (1734-1806) received Master in 1768 and cabinetmaker of the Crown furniture. This model was delivered to Versailles, Riesener was Marie Antoinette's favorite cabinetmaker. This pupil of Oeben adopts the rectilinear forms of the Louis XVI style while retaining certain curves reminiscent of the Louis XV style. The inlays are geometric and the decoration is composed of flowers and fruits in a basket, a vase and a large ewer. Great wealth of gilded bronzes. The top is marble, three small drawers under it and two large drawers in the lower part. This order was made in the second half of the 20th century. Very high quality cabinetmaking. DIMENSIONS: 1.43m x 0.57m and 0.91m high. Delivery on estimate.
