A charming and intimate portrait of a young woman from 19th-century high society. The sitter, seen from the front, is distinguished by the fineness and delicacy of her features. Her gentle, melancholic gaze immediately captures the viewer's attention.
The young woman wears a vibrant pink dress with flowing sleeves, characteristic of Romantic fashion. A string of pearls delicately adorns her décolletage. The artist masterfully captured the lightness and transparency of the fabric through subtle touches of pastel.
The composition reflects the painting techniques of the period: the arms are deliberately left in a sketch-like state, a common technique that focuses attention on the expressiveness of the face. The background, rendered in a gradient of warm gold and orange tones, creates a soft and timeless atmosphere that beautifully highlights the model's fair complexion.
The original frame, perfectly suited to the work, displays remarkable craftsmanship with its knotted ribbon decoration, typical of French Neoclassical taste. There are a few almost invisible repairs to the ribbon; overall, the work is in very good condition. Condition of the work: Very good overall condition. The work is preserved under period glass.
The work can be viewed at the gallery (07240).
Shipping: Due to the fragility of the frame, collection from the gallery or delivery by us is preferred. Please contact us for the cost of the latter option.
