Large watercolor depicting a hunter holding a bird of prey (hawk or falcon) in his fist.
The man is depicted full-length, in a natural setting. He wears a long jacket belted with a wide blue ribbon. His hat appears to be adorned with a pink feather. His heeled shoes are decorated and covered with gaiters. The hunter holds his rifle on his shoulder.

On his fist, the bird is curled up, making it difficult to clearly identify.

The work is signed lower left. It is in excellent condition, with no foxing, stains, or creases. It is offered in a modern frame in very good condition.

This work was created by Alberto La Monaca, an Italian painter and watercolorist. He was born and died in Rome, where he spent his entire career. La Monaca specialized in gallant scenes, portraits, costumes and uniforms.
