A beautiful stone clock, entirely veneered from fine Siena yellow marble (Napoleon I's favorite marble), richly adorned of mercury-gilt bronze mounts (ormolu) and still in good overall condition. This dial features gilt Roman numerals studded directly into marble; it is superb.
gallery-top, well-gilded and without wear, serves as a base for a sculpture.
First Empire or Bourbon Restoration period.
Clockmaker signed it: Pierre-César Honoré Pons (Paris 1773 – Paris, January 13, 1851), a French clockmaker. Initially established as a clockmaker in Paris, he is known for having revived the clockmaking industry in Saint-Nicolas d'Aliermont. He signed numerous mantel clock mechanisms.

Condition: generally good.
Marble: some chips on tcorners of base, wear and possible old filling on back.
Paris machine: complete, pendulum, key, apparently in good working order, clean, chimes on half hour, pleasant sound, may need adjusting or servicing.
