High Provençal Lamp With Bell Foot, Blown Glass, Museum, 19th Century

A somewhat exceptional lamp.
It is one large oil night light, "Provençal" (in the region they are called viholos or violas) from blown glass, worked with hot pliers, a rare model, with hollow column, spherical oil reservoir, col- flared receptacle, glass handle with thumb rest ending in a pigtail, and the beautiful large base in the shape of a doubly bell-shaped bell.
Wick passes through an iron washer which centers it.
Beautiful lamp, tall, similar model is in Arlaten museum, Arles, a few turns from us.
large size: 27cm x 14cm.
Condition: good, but small imperfections when blown, dust and scratches, one mini chip on edge of the receptacle, one patched chip on edge of the foot.
