French 18th C Salt Cellar Pair, Terre Vernissée Creamware
Artist: Art Populaire
A pair of charming Medici-style salt cellars, made of glazed ivory-colored earthenware, clearly hand-modeled, a definite artisanal piece from the late 18th century with undeniable charm.
Square feet with acanthus leaves, faceted body, base striated with diamond points, inverted rim with a single row of pearls, drooping acanthus leaves…
Louis XVI or Directoire period. It's difficult to pinpoint their origin precisely; it doesn't seem to be Staffordshire creamware, not Pont-aux-Choux, not Lorraine. One thing is certain: they are lovely.
Diameter: 8.5 cm x 7 cm H.
Good condition, four leaf points are slightly damaged, easily concealed. (Red arrows)
