Double-sided églomisé Medallion, Directoire Period, Love Gift

In a gilt metal frame, hinged on side and with hanging ring, are two beveled glass pieces decorated with very fine gold, engraved by hand on gold leaf, and a red and black insert.
On one side, a young girl's offering to love; on other, blind love walking with its faithful dog.
These "églomisé" pieces were once fixed with thick India ink, which accentuated their contrast and protected them.
Two centuries later, ink has peeled from the flat, undecorated parts of glass, as you can see.
This cardboard insert gives new life and protection to this gilt glass jewel.
Dimensions: 6 cm high, 5 cm wide.
Fairly good condition, some minor chips to glass, small areas of missing gilding…
