Neo-renaissance Seal And Sand Holder, Vienna, 19th Century

Egg-shaped desk seal and sand container, crafted from gilded silver and featuring repoussé work with figures and cabochon stones resembling turquoise and garnet, topped by a small sculpture in the form of a classical bust. The lid screws onto the sand container, which is openwork and chiseled; the container itself is screwed onto the body of the object and features a smooth semi-precious stone—possibly chalcedony—on its underside.
Made in the Neo-Renaissance revival style in Vienna in the late 19th century
