Miniature Montsalvat Chess Set In Hand-carved Wood By Anri, Italy, 8.4 Cm (3.3 Inches)
Artist: Anri
Anri's Montsalvat chess set is the most sumptuous carved wooden chess set of the last 50 years. The imposing Montsalvat, in its natural version, takes its name from the legend of Parsifal. The pieces, finely hand-carved from alpine maple, rest on massive bases. The kings measure 8.4 cm (3.3 inches). Probably from the 1960s.
Condition: The set is in good overall condition, but a few points to note: the black queen is missing hands, one black pawn has been reattached at the feet, and one white rook and one white pawn are damaged. Please see the detailed photo of these four pieces.
