Lapparra: Solid Silver Vermeil Ice Cream Service, St. Empire Style, Baron Gerard, Case
Artist: Henri Lapparra
Superb Empire style ice cream service in the rare "BARON GERARD" pattern, crafted in solid silver with light vermeil (gold over silver) on the spoons. The service comprises 12 ice cream spoons/spoons decorated by Baron François Gerard, a renowned painter of the Empire period. The spectacular design features palmettes, winged torches, fleurons, laurel wreaths, and cascading flowers, with monogrammed handles. Hallmarked with the French Mercure 1st Standard mark (.950) and the maker's mark of Henri LAPPARA (hallmark with the initials "HL" and a rat), received in 1923. This prestigious BARON GERARD ice cream service is in very good condition, complete, and presented in a case lined with anti-tarnish fabric, with minor scratches from use. Truly beautiful...
