Louis XVI Style Portico Clock, 18th Century
Louis XVI Portico Clock Signed SCHMIT, 18th Century. This Louis XVI portico clock, crafted from white marble and gilt bronze, is of considerable height. (Appraised by a CNES expert.) It features a double-projected front adorned with pearls and foliate scrolls, supporting four columns on a square base surmounted by an urn decorated with foliage and flowers, surrounded by an openwork gallery with pearls, gadroons, collars, and swags of foliage. The movement, with an enamel dial signed SCHMIT in Paris, is suspended between the columns and surmounted by an oval urn with bronze handles and garlands. It rests on four turned and beaded bronze feet. A biscuit porcelain statuette in perfect condition is located in the center. The clock has a wire-driven movement. It measures 50 cm in height and 32 cm in width. The movement is in working order and strikes the hours and half-hours. The expert report will be given to the buyer. It is listed in "La Pendule Française de Pierre KJELLBERG", pages 299, 341 and 342.
