Pair Of Glazed Ceramic Statues Of Immortals, China - 20th Century
Each exquisitely sculpted figure stands on a stylized lotus base, glazed in turquoise and celadon tones. One of the immortals, with a serene, bearded face, holds a cornucopia, a symbol of prosperity and longevity, while his female (or androgynous) counterpart adopts a meditative pose, delicately holding a piece of fabric against her chest. The robes, with their dynamic folds and floral details, evoke the splendor of Taoist tradition. Each base bears an incised signature. H. 43 cm – W. 13 cm – D. base 14 cm – Weight: 1.7 kg each.
