First third of the 20th century, China. A red wool twill Peking Opera jacket, embroidered, China, dating from the first third of the 20th century. It has a pinafore cut with a stand-up collar, blue silk trim, and ties at the sides. The rich, textured embroidery in silk and silver thread, including satin stitch and Peking stitch, adorns the hem. The design features Taoist symbols from the Qing period, including dragon heads, bats, turtles, and fish against a wave background. It is lined with pink cotton. No flaws. In very good condition. Dimensions: Measured flat: 108 cm high, shoulders 42 cm, hem width 75 cm.
