Japan, Exclusive Sinapango Interiors Cushion Made From Vintage Nishijin Fabric.

Contemporary cushion by Sinapango Interiors Paris, crafted in Paris from a vintage Japanese obi of exceptional quality, dating from the 1950s.

The fabric comes from a Nishijin obi, a Kyoto weave renowned for the richness of its brocades. The background is entirely woven with gold thread and silk, giving the surface a dense, iridescent, almost metallic sheen, while retaining the fabric’s suppleness.

The design combines paulownia flowers, or kiri, with chrysanthemum-like flowers—two motifs associated with the Japanese imperial tradition. They stand out against a network of geometric waves, enlivened by accents of red, green, silver, and gold. The contrast between the gold background and the abstract motifs gives the cushion a strong yet refined decorative presence.

A variation made from the same fabric features a decorative vertical line on the side, resembling a chain stitch. The reverse side is made of a solid beige fabric.
