"Large 19th-century Trumeau, Oil Painting On Canvas, Cupid Forging His Arrows, Painting And Mirror"
Charming 19th-century trumeau, composed of a mirror in the lower section and a painting in the upper section. Our oil on canvas depicts Cupid, the god of love, son of Venus and Mars, represented as an angel forging his arrows. Cupid's arrows are said to represent the sparks of desire in the hearts of men. Whoever is struck by one of his arrows immediately falls in love with the first person they see. Nearby, his bow rests against the forge, and his quiver lies on the ground. Note some oxidation on the mirror, which does not detract from the overall aesthetic of the trumeau. Dimensions: Height: 137 cm, Width: 72.5 cm; Painting (visible area): Width: 62 cm, Height: 82 cm; Mirror (visible area): Width: 62 cm, Height: 43 cm. For shipping costs via carrier, please contact us.
