"Napoleon III Period Boulle Marquetry Cigar Box"
A Boulle marquetry and ebonized wood cigar box, lined with orange and black silk, a fine example of mid-19th-century craftsmanship, circa 1840-1850, typical of boxes from the early Napoleon III period. The ebonized wood lid is inlaid with the words "Cigares et Tabac" (Cigars and Tobacco) and decorated with brass and red-tinted horn scrolls. The box is in excellent condition. The key is present and functional. The French polish has been recently renewed, as has the silk lining. Length: 24 cm Width: 13 cm Height: 11.3 cm
