"Roses By Licinio Barzanti (italian, 1857-1944)"
This floral painting depicting a rosebush was created at the turn of the 20th century by Licinio (Licinius) Barzanti (Forlì, 1857 - Como, 1944), an Italian painter of still lifes and landscapes. At a young age, he settled in Florence where he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and came into contact with the post-Macchiaiolos and contemporary naturalists. His works were exhibited in London in 1888, in Genoa in 1892, and in Florence in 1904 (Tuscan Spring). These are floral compositions and landscapes where elements of classical tradition blend with more recent influences (landscape, Forlì, Municipal Pinacoteca).
