Camille Corot School, 19th Century, Supervised: Dance In Private Under The Shade Of The Lake, Early Evening
Artist: Non Signée
This delightful painting, in a patinated giltwood frame with 18th-century Louis XV style brackets, depicts a striking scene of a lively peasant dance, observed by a seated woman. An expressive painting full of romanticism, set against a natural backdrop of trees so dear to Camille Corot. Near a lake, at the end of the day, bathed in a diaphanous light, are the distant hills bordering the shore, the silhouette of a small hamlet against the light, and this amusing, joyful scene of a frenzied dance in the natural setting so beloved by the great painter. The technique of the Barbizon painters, particularly in the brushstrokes depicting the foliage, brings us closer to the Master; the palette of colors and the sensitivity to detail—everything in this work connects us to this "pre-Impressionist" period, where the brain interprets the work that the eye merely glimpses. This beautiful painting, in good condition and well presented, is numbered (label on the back) and comes from a select and high-quality collection... The price is justified for a museum-quality painting.
