5 Pieces, Olive Morocco Desk Set, Mail Box Under Hand With Imperial Coat Of Arms
Artist: Non Signés
A rare and handsome set in sheathed leather of five desk pieces, including a blotter with the French Imperial coat of arms of the First Empire, a generous letter box, an alphabetical file, a bordered tray and a blotting pad. Richly ornamented with gilded irons by a Parisian "gainier"; a rare and prestigious piece commissioned by a Minister. The ornamentation consists of fillets, friezes, fleurons, garlands, laurel wreaths, lace frames and borders. The richness of the irons and their abundance on top-quality oilve green morocco leather give these pieces an idea of grandeur under the sign of the Empire. The compartmentalized mailbox is sheathed with a pickled fabric like the sous main, all of great richness, and the abundance and quality of the irons set the tone for this rare 19th-century piece that is both decorative and extremely useful.
