"Louis XVI Bergère Attributed To Pillot"
A large Louis XVI period bergère armchair in carved walnut, attributed to the cabinetmaker Pierre Pillot (master in 1780). The ornamental repertoire is characteristic of this cabinetmaker, trained by Mathieu Bauve and active in Nîmes at the end of the 18th century, particularly the tapered legs with a single wide flute, which are his trademark. The upholstery is in good condition, covered in a beautiful crimson embossed velvet. The joinery is solid, and the overall condition is good. The feet have probably been shortened to create a more comfortable "fireside" seat. Width: 72 cm; Total height: 90 cm; Seat height: 40 cm; Depth: 85 cm
