Rebecca And Eliezer, Oil On Canvas, Late 18th Century
A beautiful oil on canvas from the late 18th century, depicting the episode from the Book of Genesis where Eliezer, Abraham's servant, meets Rebecca by a spring, recognizing her as the bride destined for his son Isaac. Having asked God for help in his search, he had decided that the one who would give water to him and his camels would be chosen. It is this precise moment that the artist shows us, in a graceful scene with expressive female figures, oriental costumes, and a landscape background whose colors contrast with the foreground. The painting is of very high quality and in perfect condition (we have had it cleaned and relined). An old collector's label is affixed to the back of the stretcher. Dimensions: 52 x 43 cm
