"Rare And Beautiful Officer's Armchair In Caned Beechwood And "bamboo" Bronze, Made By Jansen, Circa 1970s"
An atypical and rare office chair, a model inspired by Maison Jansen in the 1970s, this striking piece features a wide, deep, thick cushioned seat, a high caned back, and webbing armrests suspended from patinated bronze ornaments. These armrests are further enhanced by steel brackets connecting the solid, turned arms, making this so-called "officer's" chair a comfortable and quintessentially bivouac-style chair. The folding "bamboo" frame rests on a beautifully sculpted, honey-colored beechwood base with arched legs that realistically resemble a sculpture. This generously sized and decorative chair is very stable, sturdy, and in good condition, offering exceptional comfort with a beautiful seat and a supple, comfortable backrest. I worked for this prestigious house on Rue Royale in Paris with a demanding and select clientele, where the recognizable style of the decorator Jansen, a talented Scandinavian man, seduced a certain refined French clientele in search of originality linked to comfort in a strong and confident decoration.
