Exquisite Japanese Satsuma bowl by Hododa (保土田), Yokohama, late Meiji period. The entire vessel is paved with the “Thousand Butterflies” motif — miniature butterflies in soft enamels and opulent raised gilt — while the interior features banners and maple leaves drifting over an ivory crackled ground.
