Traditional hand-knotted silk rug from Xi'an, China, circa 1950-1960, in very good condition.
This high-quality piece measures 180 cm wide by 264 cm long, excluding fringe.
Length with fringe: 287 cm. A very comfortable rug.
The outline of the designs is highlighted by a special shearing technique to create relief.
A black band underlines the rug and echoes the color of the field, creating a contrast with the pastel hues of the floral design. China has a vast and ancient history of knotted rugs.
But contrary to the current image of the country, these rugs are synonymous with quality.
