Malayer Rug, Persian, 134 Cm X 216 Cm, Hand-knotted Wool, Iran, Circa 1970, Superb Condition

Magnificent Malayer around 1970 of good size, 134 cm x 216 cm, in superb condition, fringes, velvet and edges.
Our very decorative model presents an elaborate medallion, justaped cream on red, presenting numerous flowers as well as stylized rams' horns and bunches of grapes, the whole set on a midnight blue field with four large bouquets, surrounded by four spandrels cream flowers and stylized bunches of grapes.
These rugs are knotted in strong, thick, shiny yarn, often dyed with natural dyes and spun by hand.
This yarn gives a resistant surface and a beautiful color palette.
They have in common that they are now woven with cotton warp threads and a weft thread between each row of knots.
The patterns are often geometric, but there are also very elaborate floral patterns. ## Newer, post-1980 rugs are often made of synthetic colors and lower quality wool than older rugs.
In general, it can be said that Malayer rugs are very good rugs for everyday use.
