Wool rug hand-knotted by the Khamseh tribes, Shiraz region, from the first part of the 20th century.
Totally random decor, in fact, no symmetry is really present in the background of the rug, which includes two inverted squares.
A bestiary, horses, poultry, and snakes are knotted in a profusion of plants, all in a stylized ethnic way.
The dyes, including many blues, used for dyeing, come mainly from plants and minerals.
The inspiration for these patterns comes mainly from local folklore and superstitions, but also from the frescoes and columns of ancient Persepolis nearby. of this sector.
The whole is enhanced with a wide border and three braids.
The wool used comes from a mixture of wool from sheep, goats, camels, and horsehair can also be found there.
The Khamseh tribe is originally from the Shiraz sector in the province of Fars in the southwest of Iran.
