Félix-Alexandre Desruelles was a French sculptor born in Valenciennes. A student of Louis-Ernest Barrias, he distinguished himself from the end of the 19th century by his style marked by realism and sensitivity. Winner of the Grand Prix de Rome in 1891, he created numerous monumental works for public spaces. Among his famous works are the Monument aux Morts in Saint-Quentin and the Fontaine de la Paix in Paris. A member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts, he had a lasting impact on French sculpture of his time.
