Magnificent and rare biscuit porcelain bust of Saint John the Baptist from Sèvres, after the model created by the sculptor Alfred Lenoir in 1883 and presented at the Salon of the Société des Artistes Français that same year.
The original marble version is on display at the Musée d'Orsay.
This model was produced by the Sèvres factory in two sizes until the 1930s. Our example is the smaller of the two.
