Monument To Workers - Hans Müller - Bronze
Artist: Hans Müller (1873-1937)
Large figure of a black-smith seated among his tools. The man leans against a vertical monolith overhung by a winged female figure. On the stele are inscribed the dates "1868-1908" (?). The worker is represented like a modern emperor, enthroned in the center of his forge.
The male figure, treated in a realistic style à la Constantin Meunier, coexists with decorative elements and a female figure in Art Nouveau style. We think of an allegory of work or a project for a monument to the worker, as Meunier was able to do in Brussels.
Hans Müller is an Austrian sculptor, born in Vienna in 1873. He trained with the sculptors August Kûhne (1845-1895) and Edmund Hellmer (1850-1935). He is known for his sculptures representing scenes of daily life of great plastic force. He died in 1937. His works are notably kept at the Bucharest Museum.

Red marble base. Missing on the front.
