Large circular bronze medallion with double portrait, depicting Messrs. Royer-Collard and Salvandy.
Inscription "Royer-Collard and Salvandy, benefactors of historical education" and "1818-1846 - Foundation of the chairs of History in the colleges of the university".

Pierre-Paul Royer-Collard (1763-1845) was a French philosopher and politician, an influential member of the ideologues movement at the beginning of the 19th century. His role in French thought and politics is part of an intellectual context of transition between the Enlightenment and Romanticism, and he is often cited for his ideas on freedom, education and critical thinking.

Narcisse-Achille de Salvandy (1795-1856) was a French politician, writer and historian of the 19th century, known for his political commitment and his career in public administration.
