"Roger Dudant, (1929-2008), Oil On Canvas “littoral”, Signed And Dated 1961"
At the age of fifteen, Roger Dudant enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Tournai. He became aware of his vocation as a painter thanks to two of his teachers, themselves quality painters, Victor Noël and Émile Salkin. The latter advised him to enroll in La Cambre in the studio of Paul Delvaux. Roger Dudant would become a loyal friend of the master. He graduated in 1953 with the highest distinction and, in the process, received the prestigious "Young Belgian Painting" prize. Thanks to this prestigious award, several cities, including Brussels, Liège, Ghent and Antwerp, organized solo exhibitions for him from 1955. He was already able to make a living from his art. He created for the 1958 Expo in Brussels, founded the Hainaut 5 group in 1964 with Gustave Camus. He exhibited all over the world and his paintings were sold all over the planet. From 1950 onwards, he moved away from figurative landmarks and in 1959 discovered lyrical abstraction. His art constantly stands on the edge of figuration and abstraction, always deserted by any human presence. This painting offered for sale is an oil on canvas, a stylized view of the coastline signed and dated 1961. It is furnished with a new custom-made wooden frame. It is large format (90/50 cm) and very bright.
