I have no documents to confirm the veracity of this story, but it remains true that this piece of furniture is exceptional in many respects. First, its very personal and luxurious design. Second, the meticulous care taken in its creation and the choice of materials used. These are all top-of-the-range, namely mahogany, mahogany burl and burr, rosewood, and solid black lacquered oak. All these rare woods, magnificently assembled, are highlighted by the solid bronze base. With its silver patina and stylized palmette decoration in the purest Art Deco style, this piece exudes luxury, spectacle, and the highly decorative presence of a bygone era.
