Pair of walnut armchairs with crossbow backs and curved belt, arched legs stamped Mayeux. Louis XV period. Circa 1765. Louis François Mayeux was a cabinetmaker who was awarded the title of Master on July 29, 1757.
A pupil and then collaborator of Nicolas Quinibert Foliot (1706-1776), he left Louis XV chairs of very good quality.
The stamp is hot-stamped with an iron, under the seat, under the rear crossbar.
These chairs are in excellent condition, they have been revised in workshops, cleaned, waxed. The tapestry is new and trimmed with Lelièvre damask.
