"Mahogany Shepherdess, Att To Jacob Freres (1796-1803) Marked Mn 6338 For Mobilier National."
n claws and it is a fawn muzzle carried by a long curved neck forming a carved carvet of palm leaves which constitutes the crook of the armrest. (ill. page 186, the French furniture of Guillaume Jeanneau). Back legs in Etruscan sabre. This seat is almost certainly attributable to JACOB FRERES, RUE MESLEE (1796-1803). The two sons of Georges Jacob (1735-1814) that is to say George II (1769-1803) and François Honoré (1770-1841) joined forces in 1796 to take over their father's workshop under the company name "Jacob Frères, rue Meslée).

Given their success, Georges interrupted his retirement to help his son supply furniture for the imperial residences of Napoleon I. The eldest of the Jacob brothers died prematurely on 30 Vendémiaire Year XII (October 23, 1803) and François-Honoré formed a new partnership with his father, under the name of "Jacob Desmalter et Cie." The Jacob dynasty thus continued its activity under the Empire and the Restoration as a supplier of Imperial and Royal furniture. Our seat is stenciled under the rear crossbar MN 6338 for Mobilier National. This seat has undergone a complete and meticulous restoration and covered with a historic lampas from Hamot (description below). Perfect condition, museum finishes. Lampas Les Cygnes Hamot, Empire style, cream satin background, medallion decoration with double swan on a wine-colored background in a Jacobean dynasty, thus continued its activity under the Empire and the Restoration as a supplier of Imperial and Royal furniture.

Our seat is stenciled under the rear crossbar MN 6338 for Mobilier National. This seat has undergone a complete and meticulous restoration and covered with a historic lampas from Hamot (description below). Perfect condition, museum finishes. Hamot Les Cygnes lampas, Empire style, cream satin background, medallion decoration with double swan on a wine-colored background in a laureate crown, in replica of the order to Grand Frères for the Emperor's rest room at the Palace of Versailles according to the submission of June 14, 1811, delivered on May 12, 1812.
