Paris, circa 1800
Large Return d'Égypte bergère chair in finely molded and carved mahogany. It rests on zoomorphic front legs and sabre-shaped rear legs. Molded belts on three sides. The backrest is Etruscan in style, with armrest supports featuring Egyptian heads, treated as “caryatids.”
Condition report: fully restored. Finished with wax filler as in the period, covered with Prelle silk gourgouran.
