Large Barbotine Wall Dish (50cm) Longchamp, High Relief Fruit Decoration, 19th Century
Artist: Longchamp
Probably made in the ceramic workshops of Longchamp (Burgundy), our dish is of an astonishing size.
The quality of the fruit that composes it is just as amazing. The figs, peaches, pears and bunch of grapes still on their branches, in a realistic polychromy are "more real than life".
The bottom of the dish is decorated in flat pale green foliage and blue flowers.
No visible mark or signature.
End of the 19th century
Diameter 50.5 cm - dish, thickness 8.5 cm the fruits are 6 cm thick. Heel 2 cm originally circled with an iron wire for secure hanging Perfect condition except for minimal firing defects, missing enamel on the edge and a small chip on the heel next to the fixing (photos)
Extremely rare in this size, this quality of production and this state of conservation.
