"Louis XVI Period Chest Of Drawers, Rosewood Marquetry, Satin & Gilt Bronze - Stamped Sar"
Rosewood and satinwood marquetry chest of drawers in rosewood and boxwood fillet frames, spindle legs with simulated fluting, rich gilt bronze trim, covered with a very fine-grained pink-grey marble. Beautiful Parisian production from the early Louis XVI period. Slight central projection, reminiscent of the Transition style: our chest of drawers dates from the early 1780s, before the fashion for mahogany chests of drawers appeared a few years later. The chest of drawers opens with 3 drawers in the belt and 2 large drawers (without visible crosspiece) below. It is a beautiful model: the marquetry, mainly in rosewood and satinwood, makes it very elegant and light. It is covered with its beautiful original Saint Anne grey marble. Our beautiful chest of drawers bears the stamp of Jean-Girard-Théodore Sar, Master in 1766. Elegant shapes, perfect proportions, excellent quality of execution: we can clearly recognize the signature of a good Parisian cabinetmaker. It is in excellent condition. The french polish has been redone by our cabinetmaker. Original fine gold gilded bronzes. Original marble. Width: 129.5cm Height: 86cm Depth: 61cm
