Baroque Commode Adorned With Marquetry From The 18th Century, Circa 1740.
A superb Baroque commode adorned with marquetry from the 18th century, circa 1740. A true rarity! This commode features straight sides and a wavy front. It has three walnut veneer drawers inlaid with a mahogany band forming interlacing geometric patterns on the front and sides, and rocaille ironwork. It rests on turned feet in the form of flattened spheres. The top is inlaid with bone. This commode has a form and decoration characteristic of Central European cabinetmaking workshops of the mid-18th century. This type of commode remained fashionable for a long time, being produced from the 1730s/1740s to the 1860s. One of the most popular models of Polish cabinetmaking. Baroque commode, typical in its form and decoration. Handcrafted. Condition: Very good, after professional restoration. Origin: Poland. Extremely rare inlaid piece of furniture. Materials: Pine; veneer: walnut, fruitwood; Steel, inlays, single-bolt locks, bone. Dimensions: Length 118 cm, Depth 67 cm, Height 87 cm. Exceptionally beautiful. I highly recommend this piece of furniture at a very attractive price. Investing in Baroque furniture is an excellent idea!
