Before settling in the Loire Valley, its previous owner lived in a classic Parisian apartment on Rue de Vaugirard, in the 6th arrondissement — a detail that speaks to a cultivated taste for elegance, blending urban refinement with provincial charm.
The original pink marble top, with natural white veining, follows the sinuous outline of the piece and features a traditional “bec de corbin” (beak-like) edge. Both the marble and the walnut structure are in excellent original condition, having never undergone restoration.
The chest opens with three large dovetailed drawers, adorned with finely chiselled patinated bronze handles. The molding on the front and sides, along with the scrolling feet, highlight the artisan’s craftsmanship. The entire piece rests on a sturdy mortise-and-tenon frame.
