Doulton Burslem — Pair Of Hand-painted Beaker Vases On Three Dolphins, C.1891
Artist: Doulton Burslem
Doulton Burslem, Staffordshire, circa 1891. Pair of rare beaker-form porcelain vases on a three-dolphin base,
ivory ground with hand-painted floral bouquets, gilt inner rims and stepped
gilt bases. The crowned Doulton Burslem mark with circular monogram on both
pieces places the set in the scarce pre-Royal Burslem period after the Prince
of Wales appointment. Slight differences in size and weight confirm hand
manufacture. A desirable early Doulton pairing combining elegant architecture,
floral painting and rich gilding.
