Reliquary of the True Cross (S. Crucis DN), 19th century

Oval reliquary in silver-plated brass, glazed on the front, containing a precious relic of the True Cross of Our Lord Jesus Christ (S. Crucis DN).

Description

The relic, in the form of a small fragment of wood, is presented in the center of a radiant cross on a red silk background, decorated with gilded threads, gilded brass stars and pearls.
The period handwritten cartouche clearly states: S. Crucis DN (Sanctae Crucis Domini Nostri).
On the reverse, the reliquary is closed by its silver-plated metal lid, sealed with silk threads and an intact episcopal red wax seal, guaranteeing the authenticity and integrity of the relic.

Dimensions: 4.5 cm x 3.5 cm

Condition:

Very good condition, original patina, seal not violated. Some wear and tear to the glass and fabric without altering the relic or the decoration.
