Pierre Lardin (1902–1982) is a French master glassmaker and designer, famous for his engraved mirrors, true jewels of Art Deco. Trained at the École Boulle and the Beaux-Arts in Paris, he distinguished himself with his innovative technique of mirror engraving using acid and sandblasting, which he experimented with from the 1920s, particularly on ocean liner construction sites. His mirrors, often decorated with geometric patterns or stylized figures, combine elegance and modernity. They embody the Art Deco spirit through their graphic rigor and refinement, while playing with light and reflections. Some of his pieces, such as those exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs or preserved in museums, demonstrate his genius for transforming a utilitarian object into a work of art. Lardin also collaborated with renowned architects and decorators, such as Maurice Dufrêne, to integrate his mirrors into furniture sets or interior decors, thus marking the history of French design.
