Object description :

"Johnny Ludécher, Carved Oak Panel, Dated 78"
Johnny Ludécher (1928-2001) was above all a French dancer and choreographer, originally from Lorraine. Passionate about dance from a young age, he trained with great masters such as Serge Peretti, Serge Lifar, Boris Kniaseff, and Merce Cunningham. He quickly distinguished himself with his innovative approach and his desire to democratize dance, making it accessible to all audiences, including in unusual places such as hospitals, prisons, or working-class neighborhoods.
He founded his own company and marked the history of French dance with the quality of his choreography, his elegance, and his rigor, while seeking to create a direct and immediate connection with the audience. Johnny Ludécher also had a personal sculpture and embroidery workshop. He left behind numerous choreographic creations, as well as a more confidential oeuvre, including rare sculpted furniture, wood and textile installations. Today, Johnny Ludécher's works are attracting the attention of a new generation of collectors. A major work was presented at the Design Miami Fair in 2015 by a major French gallery owner.
