Amazing Carved Wooden Group From The Late 19th And Early 20th Centuries
Amazing carved wooden group representing a troop of caricatured characters all holding a long pole and seeming to follow a mischievous rabbit. The quality of the carving is remarkable with a polychromy still very fresh. I do not know the tale or legend to which this sculpture refers, but it must be obvious to some. Period late 19th century early 20th century. Very good condition, remarkable quality of carving. May be of Swiss or Austrian origin. Length of the base: 42 cm. Height of the group: 16 cm.
