Hand-carved Deer Sculpture From The Black Forest, Dating From The 19th Century.

Black Forest stag sculpture - 19th century

A magnificent hand-carved limewood sculpture of a stag in a forest landscape. Finely detailed, it features a warm patina and rests on an oval base.

Made from carved basswood, a wood traditionally used for carving in the Black Forest because of its fine texture and ability to reproduce details with precision.

Epoque: Late 19th century (circa 1880-1900)

Condition: Good condition, with traces of wear normal for its age. An ornament was originally attached to the top; it is now missing.

A charming decorative piece and a classic example of traditional Black Forest craftsmanship.
